An early Sunday morning call led Joliet police to a quiet block on Loren Drive, where a married couple was found dead inside their home in what investigators are treating as a murder-suicide.
Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Loren Drive just after 5:14 a.m., after a family member reported finding two people unresponsive. A 50-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman were pronounced dead at the scene. Three of the couple’s children, two adults and one juvenile, were inside the residence when officers arrived, according to police.
Police say it began as a domestic confrontation
According to NBC Chicago, investigators believe the husband and wife became involved in a domestic-related confrontation in the home’s garage. Police say the man stabbed the woman, then used the same knife to take his own life. Officers recovered the weapon at the scene and said there is no indication anyone else was involved.
Joliet police told reporters there is no known threat to the public as detectives continue to process the home and review what led up to the deadly encounter.
