Tech investor Derek Kreunen and his wife, Erin, quietly became some of Jupiter’s newest heavy hitters last Wednesday, shelling out roughly $34 million for a just-finished spec mansion inside The Bear’s Club country club. The roughly 10,900-square-foot estate, completed last year, packs in six bedrooms, multiple living areas, and a 1,600-bottle wine cellar, adding yet another eye-popping sale to Palm Beach County’s luxury market this summer.
According to The Real Deal, property records identify Derek and Erin Kreunen as the buyers, with spec-home developer Stuart Hankin listed as the seller. Margit Brandt of Premier Estate Properties handled the listing, while Mark Griffin of The Bear’s Club Sotheby’s International Realty brought in the buyers. The Real Deal also reports that Hankin bought the lot in 2021 for about $3.4 million and wrapped construction in 2025.
Features and finishes
The home’s amenity list reads like a luxury resort spec sheet: a private elevator, a theater, staff quarters, a five-bay garage, and a fully equipped outdoor kitchen overlooking a heated saltwater pool. As listed on Zillow, the property sits on about 1.01 acres and showcases Cipollino marble, integrated Lutron lighting, and extensive impact glazing. The outdoor areas and security features are laid out for serious entertaining as well as long-term, lock-it-and-leave residency.
Price history and closing
The house hit the market earlier this year at $39 million and was recorded as closing for about $33.77 million last Wednesday, according to MLS and county filings shown on Redfin. Redfin’s sale history pegs the recorded closing at $33,767,000 and shows the status going pending in March before finally closing in July. That gap between asking and final price underlines the negotiation pressure still in play at the top of the market.
Who is Kreunen
Local coverage describes Kreunen as a technology investor who has founded and sold multiple companies and who serves as chairman at CodeCapital, according to South Florida Business Journal. The purchase drops the couple into one of The Bear’s Club’s most private enclaves and delivers the developer a sizable return on a lot he picked up five years ago. With deals like this closing, expect more glossy spec homes to keep reshaping Jupiter’s high-end inventory this season.
