A quiet stretch of Landings Drive turned into a crime scene late Sunday when Lauderhill police found a man shot to death in the 6800 block of the street.
Officers responded to a 10:14 p.m. call and arrived to find the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Lauderhill Fire Rescue pronounced him dead at the scene. Police have not released the man’s name and say they have yet to identify a suspect or a motive as the homicide investigation moves forward.
According to CBS Miami, detectives remained on Landings Drive through the night collecting evidence, and investigators are asking anyone who knows what happened to speak up.
Police Ask For Tips
The Lauderhill Police Department lists its main non-emergency line as 954-497-4700 and directs tipsters to Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 or online at Broward Crime Stoppers, according to the city. Investigators are specifically asking residents with door-bell or security-camera footage from the Landings Drive area around 10 p.m. to share it with police.
A Pattern Of Recent Violence
This killing is the latest in a string of violent incidents in Lauderhill this year. Earlier in the summer, the city saw a June driveway killing and a mid-day stabbing, and Local 10 covered a separate June shooting that sent a man to the hospital. City leaders have pointed to ongoing violence-prevention efforts, but police continue to stress that community tips and video evidence are often what break these cases open.
