Prosecutors in Miami County say a 26-year-old local man is at the center of a disturbing child sex case that now includes a stack of felony charges.
Joshua A. Vanwey was indicted this month on multiple counts that allege he sexually assaulted a juvenile and used the child in sexually explicit material. At his arraignment, Vanwey pleaded not guilty. A judge set his bond at $75,000 and ordered that he have no contact with the alleged victim or with any juveniles while the case is pending. The grand jury indictment lists several counts, including importuning, grooming and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
According to the Dayton Daily News, the Miami County grand jury charged Vanwey with two counts of importuning, one count of grooming, two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, three counts of endangering children and one count of pandering obscenity involving a minor. The indictment alleges Vanwey arranged to meet the juvenile to engage in sexual activity and that the juvenile was used in obscene or sexually oriented material.
