A Miami-Dade man landed in jail Tuesday evening, July 21, after deputies say he exposed himself to a passing family with young children near the busway in southwest Miami-Dade. According to the sheriff's office, the man took off on foot when patrol units arrived but was quickly cornered and arrested after a brief pursuit.
Authorities identified the suspect as 42-year-old Pedro Maldonado. He was taken into custody around 7:22 p.m. near Southwest 136th Street and the Busway after deputies responded to 911 calls about a naked man exposing himself to passing vehicles. The driver who dialed 911, who was traveling with his wife, a 12-year-old stepdaughter, an 8-year-old daughter and an 11-month-old daughter, told deputies the man had his shorts down and was grabbing his genitals, a description family members backed up. Deputies say Maldonado resisted when officers tried to handcuff him, and a records check showed he had an active probation violation tied to earlier lewd-and-lascivious and indecent-exposure charges and is registered as a high-risk sex offender. A judge later found probable cause and set bond at $25,000, according to WSVN.
