
A Thursday night shooting in Miami left a man fighting for his life after he was rushed to a trauma center in critical condition. Police moved quickly to seal off the area and bring in investigators while emergency crews focused on getting the victim to the hospital.
Police response and where it happened
Officers were called out around 9:30 p.m. on reports of a person shot in the area of 2131 NW Third Ave, according to Local 10. Miami Fire Rescue took the wounded man to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition, and CBS News Miami reported he is in his 40s and had been shot multiple times.
Ryder Trauma Center and care
The Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial is Miami-Dade’s Level I trauma center and is designated to handle the county’s most severe injuries, the hospital network says. The facility operates around the clock and treats thousands of trauma patients each year, according to Jackson Health System’s Ryder Trauma Center site.
Investigation ongoing
Miami police said detectives are still working the case and have not released any information about possible suspects or a motive, per Local 10. Officials did not immediately share additional details as investigators processed the scene.
