Miami’s biggest running weekend is already looming on the horizon, and runners hoping to claim a bib for the milestone race will get their chance Saturday. The 2027 Miami Marathon will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a waterfront course, a packed race weekend and thousands of athletes arriving from around the world.
General registration opens Saturday for the Jan. 31, 2027 marathon and half marathon, with the Life Time Tropical 5K scheduled for the day before. The Miami Herald reports that organizers expect more than 36,000 runners, spectators and vendors to take part across the weekend.
Race Weekend Will Stretch Across Miami And Wynwood
The weekend begins Jan. 29 with the Miami Famous Expo at Mana Wynwood, where runners will pick up race materials and visitors can browse health, fitness and running vendors. The expo is scheduled to continue through Jan. 30 and will be free and open to the public, according to the Miami Marathon organizers.
The marathon and half marathon will take place Sunday, Jan. 31, with the finish line at Bayfront Park. The course passes through downtown Miami, Miami Beach and Coconut Grove, giving runners a 26.2-mile tour of the city that is considerably more scenic than most people’s commute.
Entry Fees Start At $225 For The Full Marathon
Official 2027 general-registration prices are $225 for the full marathon, $190 for the half marathon and $75 for the Tropical 5K, before taxes and processing fees. The event has also moved its registration platform to Let’s Do This, and Life Time members received early access beginning July 25, according to the official registration information.
The marathon course is USATF-certified, mostly flat and eligible for Boston Marathon qualifying times. Runners will follow a single-loop route with water views, the MacArthur Causeway Bridge and a Bayfront Park finish, as outlined by the event’s course information.
Miami-Dade Students Will Run Their Own Final Mile
The anniversary weekend will also include Kids Run Miami, a free countywide program that helps Miami-Dade students build up the first 25.2 miles of a marathon over 16 weeks. More than 1,200 students are expected to complete the final mile alongside the adult race weekend, according to the Miami Herald.
The program is designed for Miami-Dade schools and youth organizations, with students gradually increasing their weekly mileage before crossing a finish line downtown on Jan. 31. The Kids Run Miami program says participating students will receive finisher medals after completing their final mile.
International Field Expected For 25th Anniversary Edition
Organizers expect participants from across the United States and more than 80 countries, while 51 runners are expected to return after completing every edition since the race debuted in 2003. That combination of loyal regulars, first-time marathoners and international visitors is a big reason the event has become one of Miami’s signature annual spectacles.
For local runners, the immediate question is less philosophical and more practical: whether to register Saturday before the anniversary field starts filling up. The 2027 race will bring the usual mix of bridges, ocean views, road closures and finish-line celebrations, but with a quarter-century milestone attached to the bib.
