A broad-daylight attack in Tremont left two teenage boys slashed and hospitalized Wednesday afternoon, after police say an assailant struck near East 180th Street and Park Avenue in the Bronx. The violence broke out just before 1:45 p.m., and both teens were rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where authorities say they are expected to recover.
According to News12 New York, a 15-year-old boy was cut on the right side of his face, while a 16-year-old boy suffered a slashing wound to his forearm. EMS transported both teens to the hospital, and detectives say no arrests have been made as the investigation moves forward. Authorities have not released any suspect description or possible motive, per the outlet.
Not an isolated spike
Knife attacks and street fights have been surfacing across the borough this summer. A June incident at the Fordham Road station, detailed in a Fordham Road subway slashing report, left a rider injured, and a separate Kingsbridge schoolyard brawl left multiple teens hurt. Those episodes, along with other local reports, have stirred renewed concern over youth violence and safety around schools in Bronx neighborhoods.
