A Nashville man is facing charges after a woman who came to his home for interior work told police she was attacked, raped, and prevented from leaving. She later went to a hospital with injuries that doctors documented, according to the arrest affidavit.
According to WSMV, the woman contacted 56-year-old Theron Boyd about doing interior work and said he picked her up around 6:30 a.m. She told Metro Nashville police that she completed the work at his home before the situation escalated.
The affidavit says Boyd allegedly told the woman she needed to pay him after she finished the job. When she questioned the demand, she said he became aggressive, removed her clothing, ripped out a clump of her hair and forcibly raped her. She also told police he prevented her from leaving or calling for help before later driving her to a gas station and dropping her at home.
Hospital Visit Helped Investigators Identify Suspect
The woman contacted a friend after getting home, and the two went to a Nashville hospital for treatment. Doctors observed and confirmed missing nails, scratches, bruising, and bite marks, while the woman gave police a description that helped lead them to Boyd, as detailed by WSMV.
Boyd Faces Four Charges And $115,000 Bond
Boyd was booked into the Downtown Detention Center and is being held on a total bond of $115,000. He has been charged with aggravated rape, aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping and interference with an emergency call.
At the time of the report, Boyd was under a mandated 12-hour domestic violence hold and was not immediately eligible for release. The charges are allegations, and a conviction would have to be established in court.
