
A summer evening at Leonidas Street and Sycamore Street turned into a crime scene when a man was stabbed in the torso around 7 p.m. on June 13, and now New Orleans police are asking for the public’s help to track down a person of interest tied to the case. Detectives say the man, who was injured in the attack, may have been attacked near the intersection, and they believe a yet unidentified individual could hold key details that would move the investigation forward. Officers are still following up on tips as the search for that person of interest remains active.
According to WDSU, the New Orleans Police Department has released images of the person of interest and is asking anyone who recognizes the individual to contact investigators. Tips can be submitted anonymously through CrimeStoppers of Greater New Orleans, which operates a confidential hotline along with an online tip form. Police say the person of interest is currently wanted for questioning as detectives keep working the case.

Anyone with information is urged to call NOPD Second District detectives at 504-658-6020 or contact CrimeStoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll free at 1-877-903-STOP, according to the City of New Orleans - NOPD news page. The department is also asking residents to share any video, photos or other potential evidence with investigators. Callers may stay anonymous and can also send in tips online through the CrimeStoppers website.
What investigators say
Investigators say the person of interest “may have information that could assist” the ongoing inquiry and are asking anyone who noticed suspicious activity near Leonidas Street and Sycamore Street that night to reach out to detectives, according to WDSU. Police have not released the identities of the victim or the person of interest while the investigation continues. Detectives say they will review any photos or video that come in and plan to run down every credible lead.
