Three people are in custody and more suspects are on the radar after a run of car break-ins across North Lauderdale, authorities said. Deputies say the crew was working parked cars and helping themselves to whatever was left inside, from electronics to wallets. NBC 6 South Florida first reported the arrests on Oct. 20, 2024.

Three arrested, investigation ongoing

According to NBC 6 South Florida, the Broward Sheriff's Office said deputies recovered stolen property during the arrests and are still tracking down others believed to be tied to the thefts. The station's video shows deputies canvassing neighborhoods and combing through evidence as the investigation rolls on.

Surveillance ties break-ins to fraud at local shops

Detectives released surveillance video that linked some of the break-ins to fraudulent purchases at neighborhood businesses, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office. WSVN reported the burglaries happened between November 2024 and January 2025 near the 1200 block of Hampton Boulevard and the 1300–1400 blocks of Avon Lane, with investigators estimating about $3,385 in stolen valuables and roughly $152 charged on the stolen cards.

Part of an ongoing pattern

Recent coverage and police blotters show car burglaries have been a recurring headache in the area, and deputies have chased suspects in multiple related cases. Local 10 and thieves target vehicles for credit card fraud have documented similar incidents and Broward Sheriff's Office advisories in recent months.

How residents can protect themselves

The sheriff's office has urged residents to "remove valuables from vehicles and lock their cars," and to report anything suspicious to the North Lauderdale district, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
