A North Miami brewery got an unwanted truck delivery Wednesday when a vehicle tore through parked cars and crashed into Lost City Brewing, leaving the taproom badly damaged but miraculously empty. A woman sitting in one of the cars was not injured, and neither was anyone inside the building.
Surveillance video reviewed by WSVN shows the truck barreling along Northeast 13th Court before smashing into the brewery. Furniture was thrown roughly 10 to 20 feet from the wall, while cleanup continued Thursday as co-owners Kenneth Barbot and Christopher Campos assessed the damage.
The crash happened shortly after Barbot had left after repairing a refrigerator, according to an earlier WSVN report. Campos said the timing was painfully close, telling the station that Barbot might not have survived if he had stayed another 10 or 15 minutes. North Miami police said the driver lost control, struck five parked cars and was arrested for driving without a valid license.
Lost City has been part of North Miami's brewery scene since opening in 2020. Miami New Times previously described the brewery's warehouse taproom and production space as part of the city's effort to build a local brewery district.
Owners Are Working Toward A Reopening
Barbot and Campos are coordinating with North Miami officials to secure an occupancy license before patrons return, according to the latest WSVN report. The brewery was closed on one of its busiest days of the week, but the owners emphasized that the losses were material rather than human: “We can replace everything here; we can’t replace life.”
The investigation remained ongoing Thursday, and authorities have not publicly explained what caused the truck to leave its path. The brewery's owners are now facing repairs, city inspections and a potentially lengthy cleanup before the taps can fully return to normal.
