A late-night burst of gunfire in Parkway Village left a Memphis man clinging to life early Sunday, adding another violent chapter to a corridor that has already seen too much crime this year.
Officers were called just before 2:40 a.m. to 3121 South Mendenhall Road, where they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds, according to Action News 5. Police said he was taken to a hospital in non-critical condition, but his status was later upgraded to critical. Investigators have not said what led up to the shooting or released any suspect information.
Parkway Village hit by multiple shootings in 2026
The area around Mendenhall has already weathered several shootings this year. In April, a triple shooting at a small strip shopping center on Mendenhall left one person dead, as reported by the Daily Memphian. In late June, a separate incident in Parkway Village left a man dead and another man detained, according to a man gunned down in Parkway Village, raising fresh questions about public safety along Mendenhall and nearby streets.
Detectives working the case, but details are scarce
The Memphis Police Department says detectives are investigating the overnight shooting, yet has not provided a motive or suspect description, Action News 5 reports. Authorities have not said where the victim is being treated or announced any arrests.
We will update this story as police release more information.
