A late-night crash on Interstate 65 near White House turned deadly early Saturday when a cargo van and a semi-truck collided in the southbound lanes, killing the van’s driver and shutting down the highway for hours.
The wreck happened near mile marker 106, where traffic came to a standstill as emergency crews worked the scene. The White House Community Volunteer Fire Department was the first to flag the crash publicly. Local TV coverage put the collision around midnight Saturday. Officials have not released the identity of the person who was killed.
According to WSMV, the semi-truck driver was not injured in the collision, while the cargo van’s driver died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Road Closures and Delays
Interstate 65 southbound near White House was shut down for several hours after the crash, with drivers warned to brace for serious delays, according to Smokey Barn News. The outlet later reported that lanes at mile marker 106 between White House and Millersville had reopened once the scene was cleared.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is handling the investigation into what led up to the crash, WSMV reported. Troopers have not released any details on a possible cause.
