A Pembroke Pines father who told 911 his 4-month-old daughter had choked on formula is now accused of leaving her with brain injuries that doctors said pointed to violent shaking, not a feeding emergency. The girl survived after arriving at a Miramar hospital lifeless, but police say she still needs extensive medical care months later. Antonio Lee Rogers, 27, was arrested this week and is being held without bond.
According to Local 10, an arrest warrant authored July 22 says Rogers called 911 on October 10, 2025, reporting that his daughter was not breathing and her mouth was turning blue. Medics took the child to Memorial Hospital Miramar, where doctors intubated and revived her before she was transferred to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.
Medical imaging later showed a traumatic brain injury, a brain bleed and older bleeding that authorities said indicated an earlier shaking incident. The girl is now under her grandmother’s care and still requires ‘extensive medical treatment,’ including home health nursing, while Rogers faces aggravated child abuse and child neglect with great bodily harm charges, Local 10 reported.
What The Florida Charges Mean
Florida law defines aggravated child abuse to include knowingly or willfully abusing a child and causing great bodily harm, permanent disability or permanent disfigurement. The state statute also makes neglect causing great bodily harm a felony, but the allegations against Rogers still must be tested in court under Florida Statute 827.03.
Rogers remains accused, not convicted. The Broward Sheriff’s Office arrest system cautions that jail information can change and that an arrest does not establish guilt.
