A SAFE Alert is active in Phoenix for a missing 23-year-old man who police say has a medical condition that causes him to be nonspeaking. Payden Deontae Simmons was last seen Thursday near North 75th Avenue and Camelback Road, and authorities are asking for help finding him.
Simmons is 6 feet tall and weighs about 145 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. According to KTAR News 92.3 FM, he was last seen wearing a tan jacket, a gray shirt with an unknown graphic, gray cut-off Hollister shorts and white Reebok slides.
Police Ask For Information About Simmons
The Phoenix Police Department’s Missing and Unidentified Persons Unit is investigating the disappearance. Anyone with information about Simmons’ whereabouts is asked to contact the unit at 602-534-2121, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
Arizona SAFE Alerts Cover Vulnerable Missing People
Arizona’s SAFE Alert system replaced the state’s Silver Alert program and includes missing people with developmental or cognitive disabilities, as well as older adults and people with dementia. The Arizona Department of Public Safety says alerts are issued when police determine a missing person may be in danger and public information could help with a safe recovery.
