An early-morning stop at a north St. Louis gas station turned deadly Wednesday when an adult man was shot and killed in the 1600 block of Union Boulevard. Police say the call for help came in shortly before 4 a.m., and homicide detectives were quickly requested to the scene.
Detectives spent the morning combing through the area around a vehicle on the lot, marking multiple evidence points as they worked to piece together what happened.

According to First Alert 4, officers were dispatched shortly before 4 a.m., after which homicide detectives were called in to take over the investigation. Reporters from First Alert 4 at the scene counted at least 25 evidence markers on the ground near a car as investigators collected clues.
Authorities have not yet released the victim's name and, as of midmorning, had not announced any arrests.
