Memphis police flooded a quiet Frayser cove early Tuesday after a shooting was reported on Carnoustie Cove near Whitney Avenue and New Allen Road. Officers rolled up around 3:30 a.m., stretched crime-scene tape around the area, and stayed through the predawn hours as investigators combed the scene.
According to FOX13 Memphis, multiple Memphis Police Department vehicles ringed the cove while detectives worked the case. The outlet reported it was not immediately clear whether anyone had been hurt, and investigators had not released any information about what led up to the gunfire. As of Tuesday morning, MPD had not identified any suspects.
Where it happened
Frayser has seen a string of shootings in recent months, a trend that has brought stepped-up patrols and repeated public calls for tips. Gunfire Rattles Frayser Block. Documented a separate police sweep in April, and Action News 5 and other local outlets have followed several related investigations. In that context, authorities have at times released surveillance footage and leaned on the public for help identifying suspects.
Police ask for tips
Officials are once again asking anyone with information, video, or photos tied to the latest shooting to contact law enforcement through anonymous tip lines. Per CrimeStoppers of Memphis and Shelby County, tips can be phoned in at 901-528-CASH or submitted online, and the Memphis Police Department lists CrimeStoppers as the primary channel for anonymous tips. Investigators said they plan to follow up on all credible leads as they build a timeline and work to identify any suspects.
The investigation remains active, and authorities did not immediately release additional details. This report will be updated as officials provide more information.
