A Kwik Trip in Richland Center wasted no time getting back into the game, selling a $167,000 Badger 5 ticket for the July 1 drawing just days after reopening. The winning play matched the numbers 2-8-17-28-31, a big score for the small community and one of several hefty Badger 5 jackpots to hit Wisconsin this year.
Store leader reacts after reopening
As reported by FOX6 Milwaukee, the lucky ticket was sold at the recently reopened Richland Center Kwik Trip. The station quoted Lisa, the store leader, saying, "We just reopened last Thursday. After one week of sales, we already have a big winner." According to FOX6 Milwaukee, it appears to be the largest ticket that location has sold since reopening.
Winning numbers, draw schedule and claiming
The Wisconsin Lottery lists the July 1 Badger 5 winning numbers as 2-8-17-28-31 and notes that Badger 5 is drawn daily after 9 p.m., with tickets needing to be purchased before the draw to be included (Wisconsin Lottery). Players have 180 days from the drawing date to claim prizes and can confirm tickets on the Lottery's website or mobile app, according to the Badger 5 game page. The Lottery's retailer manual outlines a Retailer Performance Program that pays a 2% incentive on winning tickets of $600 or more, capped at $100,000 (Wisconsin Lottery).
What the sale means for the store
A 2% payout on a $167,000 prize would come out to roughly $3,340 by basic calculation, money the store could receive under the Retailer Performance Program if the sale qualifies. The win continues a hot run for Badger 5, with FOX6 Milwaukee reporting it is the ninth Badger 5 jackpot above $100,000 so far this year. If you think you are holding the winning ticket, sign the back of it and follow the Wisconsin Lottery's claim instructions.
