San Jose is starting today clear and calm, near 61 degrees, but the cool morning will quickly give way to sunshine and a warmer afternoon. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid-80s before easing back toward the low 80s late in the day.
Sunny Skies Give Way To A Weekend Warm-Up
The National Weather Service says tonight should stay mostly clear, with temperatures dipping to about 58 degrees. Tomorrow will be nearly identical during the day, with a sunny high near 86 and afternoon winds from the west-northwest reaching up to 10 mph, with gusts near 18 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
The bigger shift arrives on Friday through the weekend. San Jose is forecast to reach about 89 degrees on Friday, 91 on Saturday, and 90 next Sunday, followed by another sunny day near 90 next Monday and about 89 next Tuesday.
Dry Hills And Breezy Afternoons Raise Fire Concerns
There is no rain in the forecast through next Tuesday, and the broader Bay Area outlook calls for moderate heat risk across interior locations from tomorrow through at least next Sunday. Dry afternoon air and limited overnight humidity recovery will keep fire weather elevated in nearby hills and interior ranges, including the Diablo and Santa Lucia ranges.
Residents should avoid outdoor activities that could create sparks, especially during the hottest and driest parts of the day. The forecast also calls for breezier afternoons, with winds generally building into the 5-to-10-mph range and occasionally gusting higher.
Coastal Plans Come With A Wave Warning
People heading from the South Bay to Santa Cruz, Pacifica or other Pacific beaches should also check conditions before leaving. The National Weather Service says long-period swell could produce strong rip currents, sneaker waves and breaking waves up to 12 feet at some south- and southwest-facing beaches through Saturday afternoon.
