A new kind of horsepower is coming to SoBro. Porsche Downtown Nashville, a three-story, 52,000-square-foot sales and service center, is planned for 25 Lindsley Avenue and is slated to open in early 2027, according to developer Sonic Automotive. The full Porsche showroom and service hub quietly broke ground late last month and will sit across from the Howard School building's parking garage, dropping a luxury dealership right on the doorstep of Broadway and the city's entertainment corridor.
Sonic Automotive told WKRN News 2 the new facility will "anchor the southern edge of SoBro" and framed the project as a major investment in the neighborhood. "We've been serving the Nashville community for almost 30 years, and breaking ground on Porsche Downtown Nashville is a significant step," David B. Smith said in a statement to the station. The June 25 groundbreaking, complete with company leadership on site, was documented by Nashville Lifestyles.
City Rules And Hiring Commitments
Getting a high-end auto operation into this stretch of Lindsley Avenue took some policy tuning. The project hinged on a change to the Rutledge Hill Redevelopment Plan before permits could advance. Updated language in Metropolitan Council documents clears the way for Audi and Porsche showrooms at 15 and 25 Lindsley by specifying that "auto-oriented uses" may include a virtual showroom, capping exterior vehicle storage and requiring repair work to happen in enclosed bays. The Metropolitan Nashville Legistar record also lays out a specific hiring requirement: before Porsche Downtown Nashville can secure its final use and occupancy permit, the dealer must host a two-day hiring event in the Rutledge Hill neighborhood.
Neighbors, Parking And Job Signals
The surrounding block is already feeling the strain of growth. Earlier this year, local businesses and residents bristled when the city tightened time-limited parking on Lindsley Avenue, a battle chronicled as a parking crackdown has Nashville neighbors fuming. The Porsche project arrives on top of that tension, adding another big player to an increasingly crowded corridor.
At the same time, Sonic's own jobs board is already signaling what is coming. Listings tied to Lindsley-area operations, including roles connected to the nearby Audi Downtown project, point to a wave of staffing and service-center positions headed for the neighborhood. Construction on the Porsche facility is underway, and the dealer says it expects to begin serving customers in early 2027.
