Illinois State Police told ABC7 Chicago that a female occupant exited an SUV that had pulled onto the shoulder and was struck by a passing vehicle that fled. A male occupant who got out to help was then hit by a different vehicle and also left behind. Authorities have not released the victims' names and reported no arrests as of early Monday.
