Overnight gunfire tore through parts of Chicago’s South Side, leaving two men wounded and another man dead, according to police. The violence stretched from Englewood to West Englewood and Pilsen late Thursday into early Friday, sending detectives from multiple Chicago Police Department areas racing between scenes.

Englewood and West Englewood shootings

According to FOX 32 Chicago, the first round of gunfire erupted just before 10 p.m. near 72nd and Green streets in Englewood. A 31-year-old man was shot in the leg, and paramedics treated him on the street before he was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition.

Roughly 15 minutes later, trouble flared again in West Englewood. Police say a 51-year-old man was shot in the arm during an argument inside a home in the 6500 block of South Claremont Avenue. He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition.

Area One detectives are handling both shooting investigations, and as of early Friday, there were no arrests reported.

Man found dead in Pilsen

Hours later, in what police say is an unrelated case, officers were called to the 1900 block of South Canalport Avenue in Pilsen around 4:50 a.m. They found a man unresponsive with head injuries, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times.

The victim has not yet been identified. Area Three detectives have opened a homicide investigation, police said.

Investigations underway

The Chicago Police Department provided the initial details on all three incidents to reporters, and detectives are canvassing neighborhoods for witnesses and any evidence that might connect the dots, per FOX 32 Chicago. Authorities have not released any suspect descriptions and have not announced any arrests.
