A hospitality company with ties to NFL stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce is planting two new restaurants in Chicago, taking over a former José Andrés address in River North and another site in Fulton Market. Noble 33 plans to open Mr. Noble, an upscale brasserie, at 500 N. Clark St., along with a Mexican restaurant called Coba Maya in Fulton Market, with both concepts targeting 2027 debuts.
According to WhatNow Chicago, which cited Crain's Chicago Business in reporting on Noble 33's two planned Chicago concepts, Mr. Noble will serve upscale American comfort food, while Coba Maya is billed simply as a Mexican restaurant. Mr. Noble is expected to open early in 2027, with Coba Maya following later that year. Noble 33 describes itself as a hospitality company, and its fuller menu details remain unspecified.
Two Distinct Chicago Micro-Markets
The River North site is at 500 N. Clark St., according to the same WhatNow Chicago report. Coba Maya's Fulton Market location places the concept within the Fulton Market district. Noble 33's current operating locations include Houston, West Hollywood, Toronto and London, while Miami is an announced expansion, and the company has cultivated partnerships with celebrities and athletes as part of its growth strategy.
Beyond the addresses, the two buildings themselves carry notable Chicago restaurant history. The River North space at 500 N. Clark St. will feature a two-level Mr. Noble, with an upstairs dining room and a subterranean speakeasy space below, according to Connect CRE. That same address was previously home to celebrity chef José Andrés' Spanish tapas restaurant Jaleo and its subterranean cocktail lounge Pigtail, both of which closed permanently in January 2025, as detailed by OCalpha. The property is part of Friedman Properties' River North portfolio, according to Friedman Properties' property records.
A Corporate HQ Turned Restaurant Space
The Fulton Market building has its own layered past. The four-story historic landmark at 939 W. Fulton Market previously served as the 40,000-square-foot corporate headquarters for health supplement brand Vital Proteins following a 2019 interior overhaul, according to REJournals. Fulton Market is a lively neighborhood and development corridor, and the Coba Maya opening will add another restaurant to the area.
Who Is Behind Noble 33
Noble 33 was launched in August 2021 by entrepreneurs Tosh Berman and Mikey Tanha, according to a Business Wire announcement at the time. The group operates through an in-house design studio called Monochrome and applies what co-founder Tosh Berman has called a “TESLA framework” — temperature, environment, sound, lighting, ambiance — to build design-forward concepts rather than traditional chef-driven restaurants, per the Corbett Restaurant Group. That same report notes Yelp named the group's flagship Manhattan restaurant, Mēdüzā Mediterrania, the number one Best New Restaurant in the United States for 2024 following its late 2023 debut.
Noble 33's celebrity ties extend well beyond Chicago. Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes opened the 1587 Prime steakhouse in Kansas City, a 10,000-square-foot venue inside the Loews Kansas City Hotel that debuted on September 17, 2025, with its name drawn from the combined jersey numbers of Mahomes (15) and Kelce (87). That partnership has since drawn legal scrutiny: footwear company 1587 Sneakers filed a federal trademark infringement lawsuit in February 2026 against Noble 33, Kelce and Mahomes over the steakhouse's branding, as Hoodline previously reported.
National Expansion Continues
The company has announced a Japanese project in Beverly Hills and a planned Mēdüzā Mediterrania lease at 500 Lincoln Road in Miami Beach, according to The Real Deal. With the addition of Mr. Noble and Coba Maya, Noble 33 has announced two new Chicago restaurant concepts, extending a footprint that already spans Houston, West Hollywood, Toronto and London.
How these concepts will fare against Chicago's demanding culinary scene remains to be seen, and full menu details for both restaurants are not expected until closer to their 2027 openings.
