Two Illinois State Police troopers were hospitalized late Tuesday after a suspect’s vehicle smashed into their squad car and flipped it over in Cicero, authorities said.
The crash happened near Cicero Avenue and 14th Street at about 11:52 p.m. Both troopers suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and one person was taken into custody at the scene, according to state police.
As reported by FOX 32 Chicago, troopers were following a suspect’s vehicle when the driver tried to flee and T-boned the squad car, causing it to roll over. Officials said both troopers were transported to a hospital, but did not immediately release additional details about what led up to the attempted stop or what charges the suspect might face.

The crash comes as the Illinois State Police continue sounding the alarm about the risks troopers face on the road, particularly during traffic stops and pursuits.
