ADM is pulling a major power move in the ag world, bringing in Jeff Rowe, the outgoing Syngenta Group chief executive, as its new executive vice president and chief operating officer. The Chicago-based agribusiness says Rowe will officially join on August 17, taking charge of ADM’s commercial businesses, global manufacturing, and research and development.
The company announced the hire in a release distributed Monday, according to Crain's Chicago Business. ADM described the newly created role as a way to reinforce its leadership bench and speed up the company’s long-term growth strategy.
Rowe's background
Rowe has led Syngenta Group since January 2024 and previously oversaw the company’s seeds and crop-protection businesses. Before joining Syngenta in 2016, he spent more than two decades at DuPont Pioneer, giving him deep roots in the global agriculture arena. Syngenta Group noted that Rowe will return to the U.S. after nearly a decade abroad.
