The closure caps a buzzy run next to the hotel lobby that mixed shareable plates, Israeli DJs and a late night scene that often got loud in the best and worst ways, depending on your tolerance.
As first reported by amNewYork, the team confirmed the July 19 final service and told the outlet they tried to balance comfort and curiosity in the kitchen; "part of our staple is making people comfortable with what they already know while introducing them to newer flavors," a member of the staff said. Staffers framed the whole concept around sharing food and stretching dinners into social, lingering nights.
Mesiba arrived with the hotel when Moxy Williamsburg opened in March 2023 and was operated by Bar Lab Hospitality, the group behind Broken Shaker and several nightlife projects. Eater NY covered the launch and the plan to bring a Tel Aviv-style, communal menu to Bedford Avenue, complete with the party-forward attitude its name hinted at.

Mesiba's menu, archived on the restaurant site, featured shareable items such as fresh baked frena bread, house made hummus, vegan matzo ball soup, keftedes lamb meatballs and a signature braised lamb neck, alongside grilled seafood and a wagyu burger. According to amNewYork, Mesiba's dining room is set to be retooled as an events space available for private hire, with the team saying some dishes may still be offered for catering, subject to availability. The restaurant website now includes a "Book An Event" contact for private bookings, a hint that the footprint may stick around as a neighborhood gathering spot, just with fewer walk-ins and more guest lists. Mesiba notes that private events may still tap the restaurant's menu.
Local Context
Williamsburg continues to see rapid turnover among new and recently opened restaurants, a trend that has some neighbors lamenting short runs and others already speculating about the next concept. one recent Williamsburg closure in May underscored how fast bars and restaurants can come and go in the neighborhood.
For now, the Moxy still promotes other Bar Lab-run venues on site, like Bar Bedford and rooftop LilliStar, giving guests options while the street level space is reworked. Moxy Williamsburg continues to list the property's dining lineup as it transitions the former Mesiba room into its next act.
