A late afternoon crash just outside Temecula Wine Country left a pedestrian dead and two others hospitalized last Friday, and ended with a Bellflower man under arrest, authorities said.
Deputies were called to Rancho California Road near Riesling Court at about 6:51 PM and arrived to find three vehicles with significant damage. A pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, while two passengers were taken to a nearby hospital, where they were listed in stable condition.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the intersection around 6:50 p.m. and located three heavily damaged vehicles along with the pedestrian, who was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two passengers from one of the vehicles were transported to a local hospital and are in stable condition, as reported by CBS Los Angeles.
Arrest and booking details
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office identified the driver as 38-year-old Jonathan Ruiz of Bellflower. Deputies say he was taken into custody at the scene and booked into the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center on suspicion of murder and driving under the influence, causing injury, according to a Riverside County Sheriff's Office release. “This is an ongoing investigation, and no further details will be released at this time,” the release stated.
