A 39-year-old man was stabbed in the back Wednesday night in an alley near the University of Washington, and Seattle police are still searching for the suspect.
The attack happened just before 7 p.m. in the alleyway between University Way NE and Brooklyn Avenue NE near North 47th Street. The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he was reported to be alert and conscious.
Witnesses told officers the attacker fled north through the alley and left the scene with a bicycle. Police described the suspect as a man in his 30s wearing blue shorts and no shirt.

Seattle Police said the stabbing occurred in the alleyway between University Way NE and Brooklyn Avenue NE near North 47th Street just before 7 p.m., and that the victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment, as reported by KING 5.
Officers told KING 5 the suspect stole a bicycle before fleeing north from the scene and that detectives were canvassing the area for witnesses and video. Investigators asked anyone with information to contact Seattle police.
