An early-morning train-versus-auto accident disrupted TRAX service Friday, slowing Green Line trips toward Salt Lake City International Airport. Riders on the affected stretch were warned to expect delays long enough to turn a simple airport transfer into a much less simple commute.
In an alert posted Friday morning, the Utah Transit Authority said Green Line trains were running 25 to 30 minutes late between Jackson/Euclid and Airport. UTA also said a bus bridge would be put in place, but the initial alert did not identify the crash location or say whether anyone was injured.
Bus Bridge Planned For Airport-Side Green Line Disruption
The disruption affects the Green Line’s airport corridor, which connects Airport with West Valley Central through downtown Salt Lake City. UTA’s current route map and schedule list Jackson/Euclid among the stations on that route.
Train-auto crashes have caused similar interruptions on the system this year. In February, KSL reported that a truck collided with a TRAX train near North Temple, sending one person to a hospital and causing 15 to 20 minutes of Green Line delays after the scene was cleared.
UTA had not provided a restoration estimate in the initial Friday alert. Riders traveling between Jackson/Euclid and the airport should allow extra time and watch for additional service updates before heading out.
