According to WPBF, the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority reported that the southbound Tri‑Rail train hit a trespasser near Lake Worth Road, and the case remains under investigation. Officials have not released additional details about the victim. While crews worked the scene, Tri‑Rail set up a bus bridge to Boynton Beach and riders faced roughly 30‑minute delays.

“It’s a little traumatic,” one passenger told WPBF, describing the tense moments as riders peered out the windows and saw people gasping and looking toward the back of the train. Passengers said the conductor made an announcement about 15 minutes after the sudden stop, and that the train remained at the Lake Worth station until shortly after 10 a.m.
Why trespassing is a continued concern
Tri‑Rail has been working to cut down on trespassing along the South Florida Rail Corridor and in May announced a suicide‑prevention partnership with Henderson Behavioral Health after reporting a series of trespasser incidents and fatalities, according to Tri‑Rail.
