Friday evening turned tragic in Cottonwood Heights when a motorcyclist was killed in a collision with another vehicle at the intersection of Millrock Drive and Wasatch Boulevard, authorities said. Emergency crews pronounced the rider dead at the scene and shut down the area while investigators went to work. The crash backed up traffic along the already busy Wasatch Boulevard corridor for hours.
According to ABC4 Utah, a Subaru hit the motorcycle in the intersection. The Subaru driver was not injured and stayed on scene to cooperate with officers. Officials have not released the rider’s name, noting that family members must be notified first, the station reported.
Road Closure and Investigation
The Utah Department of Transportation reported that SR-190 (Wasatch Boulevard) was closed in both directions through the crash area and issued alerts steering drivers to alternate routes, according to UDOT Traffic. Police shut down the immediate intersection while detectives and crash reconstruction teams documented the site and gathered evidence.
Officers remained on scene into the evening as investigators worked through the debris, mapping out the intersection and photographing the vehicles involved so they could later piece together a precise timeline of what happened.
