Two men were wounded in separate shootings across Chicago from Monday evening into early Tuesday, one in a West Side drive-by and another on the Far South Side in Roseland. Both victims were reported in good condition after being taken to area hospitals, police said. Detectives from different Chicago Police Department areas have opened investigations into each case.
Drive-By On The West Side
Around 7:06 p.m. Monday, a 36-year-old man was standing in the 5500 block of West Monroe Street in the Austin neighborhood when a dark-colored vehicle pulled up and someone inside opened fire. The man was hit twice in his right leg. Chicago Fire Department paramedics treated him on the scene before he was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, according to FOX 32 Chicago.
South Side Victim Walked Into Christ Hospital
Shortly after midnight, a 44-year-old man walked into Christ Hospital after being shot in the 100 block of West 113th Place in Roseland. Police said he had a gunshot wound to his left foot and was listed in good condition. Area Two detectives are investigating, and no arrests have been announced, according to FOX 32 Chicago.
Where This Fits
These incidents come on the heels of a busy stretch of weekend violence across the city; CBS Chicago reported that at least two people were killed and 19 others injured between July 10 and 13. A separate Roseland drive-by in June wounded about a dozen people and highlighted ongoing safety concerns on the Far South Side, according to dozen wounded in Roseland drive-by.
Police are asking anyone with information or video from either scene to contact Area Two or Area Four detectives as the investigations continue. This story will be updated if officials release additional details.
