A 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed yesterday in a solo crash on San Pasqual Valley Road in Escondido, after being thrown from a 2026 Harley-Davidson that slammed into a guy wire and then a curb near Stonecrest Lane. The rider was pronounced dead at the scene, and authorities are withholding his name until family can be notified.
What CHP has told reporters
According to the FOX5 San Diego report, the California Highway Patrol said the motorcyclist was headed east on San Pasqual Valley Road near Stonecrest Lane when he made what officers described as an "unsafe movement" and lost control of the bike. The motorcycle then hit a guy wire and a curb, and emergency crews declared the rider dead at the scene. CHP officials say their investigation into the cause and circumstances of the crash is still underway.
Another dangerous stretch
San Pasqual Valley Road has been the site of multiple serious crashes over the years, with investigators frequently shutting down the two-lane corridor to work lengthy collision scenes. Hoodline previously covered a fatal January crash on the same stretch that also led to extended closures and an investigation. The repeated wrecks have kept a spotlight on safety along the winding, rural approach east of Escondido.
Investigators seek witnesses
The California Highway Patrol is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who has dashcam or other video from the area around the time of the collision, to contact investigators as they work to reconstruct what happened. Officials have not yet said whether speed, alcohol, or other impairment played any role and are still reviewing physical evidence and witness statements.
