Two men are being sought after police say they attacked a 52-year-old man at a Brooklyn gas station and stole his gold chain in a daytime robbery. The NYPD Crime Stoppers appeal, posted Monday, comes more than a month after the July 3 incident, putting a fresh public spotlight on a case with no suspects publicly identified.
According to the NYPD Crime Stoppers post, the robbery happened at approximately 10:25 a.m. on July 3 at a gas station on Mother Gaston Boulevard. Police say two unidentified men approached the victim, struck him in the back of the head, forcibly removed a gold chain and fled.
Police Offer Up To $3,500 For Information
The NYPD Crime Stoppers program is offering up to $3,500 for information that leads to an arrest and indictment, according to the department's official Crime Stoppers page. Tips can be submitted anonymously by calling 1-800-577-TIPS, using the department's online tip system or contacting @NYPDTips.
As of Monday, the public appeal did not announce an arrest or identify either suspect by name. Police also have not publicly described a motive or said whether the victim required medical treatment after being struck.
NYPD Seeks Witnesses And Video
Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the robbery, has surveillance footage or recognizes the men in the police appeal to come forward. The department says tipsters can remain anonymous, and information may also be sent by direct message to @NYPDTips.
