A 41-year-old person was wounded Friday evening after a shooter fired through a window of a Belmont Cragin home, police said. The victim was hospitalized in serious but stable condition as detectives worked to determine what led someone to fire into an occupied residence.
The shooting occurred at 7:33 p.m. Friday in the 2100 block of North Mobile, according to a report by Chicago Sun-Times. Police said the victim was inside the home when the shot came through the window.
Victim Knew The Shooter, Police Say
The victim was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood for treatment. Chicago police later said the victim knows the shooter, adding a personal connection to an attack that otherwise remains short on public details.
Area Five detectives were investigating as of Saturday, and authorities had not announced an arrest, a motive or any further description of the shooter. The Sun-Times reported that the victim remained in serious but stable condition.
