A boater’s grim discovery miles off Boca Raton Tuesday morning triggered a multi-agency response as authorities began investigating a body found in the ocean. The circumstances surrounding the death, including the person’s identity, remain unclear.
According to CBS12 News, the call came in around 8 a.m. after a boater reported finding a body approximately 3 to 4 miles offshore. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, U.S. Coast Guard, Boca Raton Police Department and water-rescue crews were responding.
Officials Have Not Released Victim Details
Boca Raton saw a similar offshore recovery in August 2023, when marine units found a woman’s body about a mile offshore during routine patrols, WPBF reported. Police had not released an identity or cause of death in that earlier case at the time.
In Tuesday’s incident, authorities have not said whether anyone was injured, what prompted the response or what type of incident crews are investigating. CBS12 News said the investigation remains active and that additional details are expected as they become available.
