Cincinnati is waking up to clear skies, calm winds and temperatures around 59 degrees Wednesday morning, but the city is headed for a much warmer afternoon. Mostly sunny skies will push the high near 87, with light south winds keeping conditions quiet for most of the day. The bigger weather question arrives after dark, when showers and thunderstorms may move into the region.
Some low-lying areas could see patchy river-valley fog through daybreak before sunshine takes over. The National Weather Service in Wilmington said no watches, warnings or advisories were in effect for Ohio, Kentucky or Indiana early Wednesday.
Storm Chances Return Wednesday Night
A 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms is in the forecast between about 10 p.m. Wednesday and 4 a.m. Thursday. Temperatures will fall to around 67 degrees, with a light southwest wind and partly cloudy skies.
Storm coverage should weaken as it moves southeast overnight, but a few stronger storms cannot be ruled out, mainly northwest of the Cincinnati area. The primary concern with any stronger cell would be damaging wind, so anyone with late-night outdoor plans should keep an eye on alerts and have an indoor backup.
Heat Ramps Up For The Weekend
Thursday should bring mostly sunny skies and a high near 86, although another slight chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms is possible. The night turns mostly clear and cooler, with a low around 65, followed by a sunny Friday near 85.
Saturday looks like the easy outdoor-planning day, with sunshine, a high near 86 and no rain in the forecast. The heat then builds Sunday, when temperatures may reach 91, before Monday and Tuesday climb to around 94 under mostly sunny skies.
Overnight lows will remain in the upper 60s to low 70s through early next week. A slight chance of rain showers returns after 2 a.m. Tuesday night, but the broader forecast favors a hot, mostly dry stretch across Cincinnati.
