The Chicago Cubs are about to become comic book characters. A new officially licensed comic book covering the franchise's history — including the Billy Goat Curse and the 2016 World Series championship — is now available for preorder, with copies set to ship in October 2026.

The Chicago Cubs comic is one of three debut titles from All Baseball Comics, which also released books centered on the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers, according to Axios. All Baseball Comics is the official comic book partner of Major League Baseball, and the Cubs issue covers the team's history, including the Billy Goat Curse and the 2016 World Series title, per the outlet's report. It's unclear whether Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong appears in the pages, as Axios notes he may be absent from the book.

A Fitting Year for the Story

The timing lines up neatly with the Cubs' own celebration schedule. The team is marking the 10th anniversary of its 2016 championship season this year, the same milestone the club has been honoring around Wrigley Field with the recently unveiled Champions Gate monument. That 2016 title snapped a 108-year championship drought for the franchise, a storyline the comic itself leans into as part of its narrative arc.

Series creator Josh Frankel described the project as a passion project years in the making. “Baseball has been the one sport I've loved since I was a kid, everything from the long history of the teams to the rhythm of the game, those quiet lulls broken up by the excitement of a home run,” Frankel said, according to the same Axios report. He added, “It's an honor to combine that with one of my other loves, comic books.”

Comics Built Like Trading Cards

All Baseball Comics isn't treating these as ordinary reading material. The publisher has designed the books as collectibles, and the company has compared the comics to trading cards rather than traditional disposable reading material, the report notes. That framing fits a broader moment for MLB memorabilia: the market has been running hot in 2026, underscored by the $440,055 sale of Shohei Ohtani's game-worn cleats from the 2025 Tokyo Series against the Cubs, which set a record for the most expensive baseball footwear ever auctioned, as Hoodline previously reported.

For now, the Cubs comic joins its Yankees and Dodgers counterparts as part of All Baseball Comics' initial three-team rollout, with the Cubs franchise getting its own dedicated volume tied directly to Wrigley Field's most storied chapters. Whether the publisher expands to additional teams beyond this fall's shipments remains an open question.
