Police are searching for a man wearing a red t-shirt, white pants and a surgical mask in connection with the shooting, and he remains at large.
The shooting was reported early Tuesday, according to News 12 Brooklyn, which reported that officials described the victim as walking himself to the hospital rather than waiting for an ambulance. That detail, along with the location of the wound, suggests the injury was not life-threatening, though the outlet's report did not specify how the suspect fled the scene or what led up to the shooting.
Flatbush Avenue has seen gun violence before along its commercial stretch. In January, two men were shot and wounded inside Alex Deli & Grocery at 1256 Flatbush Avenue, a daytime shooting that prompted the United Bodegas Association to offer a $5,000 reward for information, per the same News 12 report on that earlier case. Just a block or so away on Raleigh Place near Church Avenue, Hoodline previously reported that two young men, aged 21 and 25, were shot outside a residence in mid-July, with one struck in the leg before both were hospitalized and police searched for three suspects.
