Cincinnati is starting Friday under fog and mist, but the gray curtain should lift by midmorning and make way for a sunny afternoon near 84 degrees. Early visibility could change quickly, especially near river valleys and other low-lying areas.
The National Weather Service warned that locally dense fog may briefly reduce visibility below a half-mile. Drivers should allow extra time and be ready for sudden changes on the morning commute, particularly around the Ohio River and near Lunken Airport.
Sunny Friday Gives Way To Saturday Storms
Once the fog burns off, Friday turns warm and mostly sunny with only a light east wind around 2 mph. Tonight stays mostly clear, with temperatures settling near 66 degrees and little wind.
The bigger weather shift arrives Saturday afternoon. A chance of showers and thunderstorms begins around 2 p.m., with storms becoming more likely between 4 and 5 p.m. before tapering into the evening; the overall rain chance is about 60%, with a quarter- to half-inch of rain possible.
The strongest Saturday storms could produce isolated damaging wind gusts and some hail, according to the NWS Wilmington forecast discussion. Anyone planning outdoor activities should keep an eye on changing conditions and have a place to shelter if thunder moves in.
Cooler, Calmer Weather Follows
Sunday brings a sunny high near 79 degrees, followed by another mostly sunny 79-degree day Monday. Tuesday warms slightly to around 81, while Wednesday and Thursday climb into the mid-80s with only slight chances for afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
