A man died early Saturday morning after his car crossed the median on Jog Road near Lantana Road, slammed into a minivan and burst into flames, according to a crash report. Two people in the minivan, including a teenage passenger, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. As of Saturday afternoon, authorities still had not identified the driver who was killed.
The crash happened around 3:42 a.m. Saturday when a 2026 Honda Civic was traveling north on Jog Road at a high rate of speed, according to the crash report cited by WPEC. Investigators said the driver lost control for reasons that remain unknown, and the Civic crossed into the oncoming lanes before striking the center median on the north side of the intersection. The car then rotated counterclockwise, continued northwest off the roadway, and struck a chain-link fence before the rear passenger side collided with the front of a southbound 2015 Toyota Sienna minivan.
The Honda Civic came to rest before catching fire, and the vehicle quickly became fully engulfed in flames.
