San Francisco's animal shelter is turning its rooftop into a night of dancing, cocktails, kitten cuddles and second chances for animals in need. The Evening for Animals fundraiser is set for September 26, with proceeds supporting the work of San Francisco Animal Care & Control.
The adults-only event runs from 7 to 10 PM at the SFACC shelter and will feature a vegetarian dinner by Fraiche, complimentary beer, wine and signature cocktails, a live DJ, dancing and a silent auction, according to the Eventbrite ticket page. Guests will also get a behind-the-scenes look at the shelter, while sponsors are invited to a special cocktail hour before the main event.
The Animal Care & Control San Francisco promises a photo booth, a scan-to-join auction option and an opportunity to meet kittens during the evening. The organization is asking attendees to leave their own pets at home for the animals' safety.
A Fundraiser Built Around Shelter Access
The event follows SFACC's first-ever Evening for Animals, held on the shelter rooftop in October 2025, according to SFACC's event calendar. This year's version keeps the rooftop setting and adds the same mix of food, drinks, music, auction items and a closer look at the facility's work.
That work stretches beyond adoptions. On SFACC's fundraising information, the shelter says its city budget does not cover everything animals need, including behavior and training staff, toys and treats, specialized emergency medical procedures and support for foster and rescue partners.
Friends of San Francisco Animal Care & Control, a registered nonprofit founded by volunteers in 2000, raises money for programs that fall outside the regular city budget. The September fundraiser offers a somewhat more festive way to support those needs: dinner and drinks for the humans, a little extra help for the animals and a rooftop view of the shelter in the bargain.
