Triple-Digit Weekend Takes Shape
The National Weather Service in Memphis expects the heat to intensify Friday, with a high near 100, followed by 101 Saturday and 102 Sunday. Rain chances will remain near zero through the weekend, leaving little relief for outdoor plans beyond shade and air conditioning.
Warm Nights Will Offer Little Relief
Thursday night will stay mostly clear, with a low around 80 and heat index values still as high as 107. Overnight lows are expected to remain in the upper 70s to low 80s through early next week, while southwest winds of 5 to 10 mph do little to ease the oppressive conditions.
Heat Safety Moves To The Top Of The List
Officials are urging residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned spaces, avoid prolonged sun exposure and check on relatives and neighbors. Anyone who must be outdoors should treat the afternoon heat seriously, especially as the advisory covers the weekend's hottest stretch.
A Small Chance Of Storms Arrives Next Week
Monday will remain sunny and near 101 degrees, but a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms returns Monday night into Tuesday. Tuesday's high should reach 98 before mostly sunny, hot weather returns Wednesday.
