Friday Brings Heat, Haze And Late-Day Storms
The National Weather Service in Memphis expects mostly sunny skies through midday, followed by a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Winds should generally stay light from the southwest, and most locations will see little rainfall, though a quick downpour could still complicate afternoon outdoor plans.
Memphis and Shelby County are also under a Code Orange ozone forecast through 5:30 p.m. Friday. The Shelby County Health Department recommends that active children and adults, along with people who have respiratory conditions such as asthma, limit prolonged outdoor exertion while air quality is unhealthy for sensitive groups.
Saturday Stays Hot Before The Pattern Dries Out
Saturday brings another warm day, with a high near 93 and heat index values as high as 105. Rain chances are highest from early morning through midafternoon, when scattered showers and thunderstorms could develop, but the overall chance remains around 30%.
Saturday night should turn partly cloudy with a low near 75. Sunday looks mostly sunny and hot, with a high around 94 and only a 5% chance of rain.
Next Week Keeps Memphis In The Heat
Sunny conditions return Monday and Tuesday, with highs near 94 and overnight lows around 77. The weather service says heat indices near or slightly above 105 degrees are likely across the region by Tuesday, and additional heat advisories may be needed.
A slight chance of afternoon storms returns Wednesday, followed by a better chance Thursday, when the high should ease back to around 92. For now, the week-ahead forecast still looks more like summer furnace than cooldown, with the best odds for relief coming from brief, uneven thunderstorms rather than a broad temperature drop.
