Wednesday will stay hot, with a high near 94 degrees and a heat index as high as 111. A 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives Wednesday night, mainly between 7 p.m. and 2 a.m., as moisture begins returning to the region.
Thursday and Friday bring a more typical summer pattern, with highs near 92 and 91 degrees and a 40% chance of afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms. Storm chances continue into the weekend, although temperatures will remain in the low 90s.
Interior parts of South Florida could also face elevated fire risk Tuesday because of unusually dry air and ongoing drought conditions. For Miami residents, the safest plan is simple: handle strenuous outdoor work early, take frequent cooling breaks and treat the afternoon advisory window as a serious health warning.
