Miami is starting Friday clear and already around 82°F, with a southeast breeze near 17 mph before sunrise. The bigger story arrives by late morning: a Heat Advisory will cover the city as the feels-like temperature climbs to about 106°F.
The advisory runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Miami, with heat-index values expected between 105°F and 110°F across South Florida. Actual temperatures should peak near 90°F under sunny skies, while southeast winds hold around 8 to 12 mph.
Friday's Heat Is The Main Hazard
The worst stretch is likely midday through early evening, when sun, humidity and a low around 84°F tonight leave little relief after dark. Anyone working, exercising or waiting outdoors should move strenuous plans to early morning or evening, drink water regularly and watch for signs of heat exhaustion.
Saturday Brings A Few Storm Windows
Friday night stays mostly clear at first, but a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives after midnight. Saturday remains hot near 90°F, with a 30% storm chance from the morning into early afternoon before skies trend sunnier; brief downpours are possible even though widespread rain is not expected.
For beach plans, the forecast discussion also points to a moderate rip-current risk along the Atlantic coast as southeast winds build. Swimmers should stay near lifeguards and follow posted flags, while small-craft users should expect a light chop and stronger breezes near the coast.
Sunny, Hot Pattern Holds Next Week
Sunday and Monday look mostly sunny, with highs around 91°F and 92°F. Tuesday through Thursday stay hotter, reaching about 92°F to 93°F, while afternoon shower and thunderstorm chances gradually rise to 20% to 30%.
Cooling Sites Are Available
Miami-Dade County lists public cooling sites, including libraries, parks and government buildings, for residents who need air-conditioned relief. The county's cooling-site directory also advises people to hydrate, seek shade and call 911 for a medical emergency.
