Millcreek's annual art party is back in less than two weeks, bringing more than 85 artists, two stages of live music, and a full Saturday of handmade work to the neighborhood. The eighth annual Millcreek Arts Fest is shaping up to be the kind of free summer outing that can keep an art browser, a music fan, and a kid with paint on their hands in the same place for hours.
The free festival is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 15, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Historic Baldwin Radio Factory, the Millcreek Community Center South parking lot and adjacent Evergreen Park, according to Millcreek Municipal Government. The event is billed as a one-day celebration of creativity, community and culture, with organizers also directing residents toward volunteer sign-ups as the countdown gets short.
More Than 85 Artists Across Indoor And Outdoor Spaces
The artist roster includes more than 70 outdoor booth artists, plus 15 or more indoor exhibitors at the Baldwin Radio Factory, according to the Millcreek Arts Council. The lineup spans painting, photography, woodwork, pottery, jewelry, glass, felting, digital art, textiles and sculpture, making the event less a one-note craft fair and more a small-scale art market.
That mix also gives visitors a chance to shop for handmade pieces while meeting the people who made them. For local artists, the festival offers a concentrated showcase before a neighborhood crowd rather than another lonely weekend spent hoping someone wanders past a booth.
Two Stages, Eight Performances And A Kids Zone
Music will run across two stages with eight performances, while a Kids Zone adds hands-on activities for younger visitors. Visit Salt Lake describes the event as an all-day mix of art, live entertainment, food and family activities.
The venue itself is part of the appeal. The Historic Baldwin Radio Factory is an arts-and-eats destination with studios, shops and a cafe, giving the festival a more distinctive backdrop than a generic event lot with a few easels dropped in at the last minute.
Volunteer Registration Remains Open Before Festival Weekend
The festival's volunteer operation is still filling shifts for setup, guest support, music assistance and the Kids Zone. The Eventeny application lists an Aug. 11 deadline and says volunteers will receive a T-shirt, food, drinks and festival-day experience in exchange for helping support local artists and musicians.
