A 22-year-old Mooresville man is being held without bond after investigators brought 25 felony charges in a child exploitation case involving a juvenile. The investigation began with a report received July 3 and led detectives to examine the suspect’s phone before his arrest Monday.
Christian Michael Seibers was arrested Monday and booked into the Iredell County Detention Center, according to a report by Queen City News. Investigators determined that Seibers allegedly initiated contact with the juvenile through Snapchat, then responded to a Mooresville home and obtained a search warrant for his cellphone.
The case was handled by detectives assigned to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit. The unit says it investigates reports involving child physical abuse, sexual assault and other cases involving vulnerable victims, according to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.
25 Charges Span Four Felony Categories
A second account from Queen City News lists six counts of felony statutory sexual offense of a child, four counts of felony statutory rape of a child and five counts of felony indecent liberties with a child. Seibers also faces 10 counts of felony third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, bringing the total to 25 charges.
The sheriff’s office said detectives collected evidence connected to the investigation, which remains open and ongoing. Authorities have not publicly identified the juvenile or released additional details about the allegations.
What The Charges Mean Under North Carolina Law
Under North Carolina law, statutory rape and statutory sexual offense involving a child by an adult are Class B1 felonies, while taking indecent liberties with a child is a Class F felony and third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor is a Class H felony. Those classifications describe the accusations, not a finding of guilt; Seibers is presumed innocent unless prosecutors prove the charges in court.
The arrest follows other separate Iredell County cases involving child-related felony allegations. Hoodline previously reported that a Mooresville man faced 20 child exploitation counts in May, while a Mooresville woman was charged with two counts of indecent liberties with a child in March.
