
A Friday afternoon drive-by shooting in North Lawndale left a 27-year-old man dead and a 56-year-old woman wounded, police said. The gunfire erupted near a busy West Side street after two vehicles pulled up alongside the man.
The man was standing in the 3400 block of West 16th Street around 12:40 p.m. when people inside the vehicles began shooting, according to a report by Chicago Sun-Times. He was struck multiple times, while the woman nearby was shot twice in the back.
Both Victims Were Taken To Mount Sinai
Chicago police said the victims were transported to Mount Sinai Hospital. The man was pronounced dead there, and the woman was listed in fair condition.
Police did not immediately release additional details about the shooting, including information about a possible suspect or motive, the Sun-Times reported.
